White 1st Zombie PLG 2nd Bucky 3rd

SLC Dew Tour

The Dew Tour has been coming to SLC for the past three years but Ive never attended. This year the great folks at Milosport hooked me up with tickets for a few different days so me and my 9 yr old headed down on Saturday and Sunday to see some skate action.

Let me put it to you straight this thing is a total shit show.  Basically its just a bunch of booths where you can sell your soul for a beef jerky sticker or whatever product that particular booth is pushing. Im not into this at all but my youngun wanted “free posters”  which I call advertisements but whatever I wasnt going to bring him down with some socio political treatise about youth and consumerism so we got some posters.

We were there on Saturday to see some street skate finals but once again the Dew Tour came through in awesome fashion and we were misdirected by a worker to inside Energy Solutions Arena where the BMX park was not the skate park. By time we got to the right spot the stands were full and we had to go back into the Arena and watch it on the jumbo screen. Totally Lame. The one bright side to that whole affair is that we were able to sneak into the Half Pipe area and watch Burnquist, PLG, Bucky and a few others in a private practice session so that was cool.

We snuck in to a private vert practice session

Since the first day turned out to be so-so I told my boy wed come back Sunday for the vert finals and I promised him wed get in.  Sunday I was a dad on a mission. We showed up at 10:30 for the 2:30 vert finals. We went straight in and sat and watched a good bit of the BMX Gatorade free flow finals.  Armed with a little inside info I was able to get we left that early and made our way to the seating area for the vert contest. It was a mad dash to the general admission area but we ended up getting great seats and were able to enjoy the show.

our seats for the finals ... not too bad

It was pretty obvious straight away who the crowd was there to see but there were some other people there that were straight killing it. Bucky, PLG,  and Burnquist,  were all killing it with their own brand of style. In the end however they just couldnt compete with the screams of the crowd  when Shaun White took to the ramp and blasted the highest airs of the finals.  The final podium was White in 1st PLG 2nd and Bucky coming in 3rd… heres a few more pix and a sideways vid of Whites winning run…..

Bob is the man....
